Vallauris-Golfe-Juan is a multi-faceted town. Vallauris is renowned as an international centre for traditional and artistic ceramic creation. The public can discover the result of the meeting between the ancestral know-how of master potters and the creative genius of the greatest artists: Picasso, Chagall, Matisse, Jean Marais... This heritage recognised by the “Ville & Métiers d'Art” label is further enhanced by museums presenting the works of Picasso, Magnelli, Marais...
Golfe-Juan offers the hospitality of a seaside resort with fine beaches of light sand and yachting and recreational infrastructures, without forgetting its epic historic scope as the site of the former Emperor Napoleon's landing after his escape from the Isle of Elba.

  Monuments
• Château-Musée.

The Château-Musée, a former Priory belonging to the Abbey of Lérins, is an impressive fortified Provençal house rebuilt in the 16th century, with two corner towers. Today, it features three museums in one:

- Musée National Picasso, La Guerre et La Paix, the first provincial national museum founded in 1956, in the Castle's Romanesque chapel. In 1952, Picasso set up his monumental work on the theme of War and Peace.

- The Magnelli Museum, with the brightly coloured works of Alberto Magnelli (1888-1971), one of Picasso's contemporaries and a master of abstract art. This is the largest public collection of works by this artist.

The Museum of Ceramics offers a very broad panorama of contemporary ceramic creation, with many pieces by Picasso. Every two years, the prizewinning pieces from the Grande Biennale Internationale de la Céramique are displayed.

• Picasso's “L'Homme au Mouton” statue on Place Isnard.

To thank the town and the people of Vallauris for their hospitality, Picasso offered this bronze statue in 1959. It was set up on the typically Provençal Place du Marché with its century-old plane trees.

Espace Jean Marais - 3, Avenue des Martyrs de la Résistance - Tel. 33 (0)4 93 63 46 11 -

Jean Marais's former art gallery has been transformed into a venue dedicated to the artist, Jean Cocteau's partner. Over a hundred works are on display: ceramics, lithographs, drawings, paintings, photographs tracing and illustrating this multitalented man's brilliant career. Jean Marais's tomb in the old cemetery of Vallauris is marked by a very unusual monument.

Museum of Kitsch Ceramics.

Although sometimes taxed with being old-fashioned, these ceramics from the 1960s to the 1980s have, on the contrary, attracted the amazingly inventive, original and trendy young designers and decorators (American decorators in particular). The exhibition is an integral part of Gil Camatte's collection; for over 30 years, he gathered several thousand objects sold in Vallauris.

• La Maison de la Pétanque.

Obut, the best known manufacturer of pétanque balls, managed both the museum where you can follow the evolution of the boules and information on how they are made. The adjoining shop offers everything you need to play pétanque.

• Coopérative agricole Nérolium.

The Commune still has many Seville orange trees whose flowers are distilled at the Coopérative Agricole Nérolium to produce the essential oil called Neroli. The oranges are processed on the site to make jam. Sale and tasting of jams possible in the shops of Vallauris and Golfe-Juan

Sainte-Anne/Saint-Martin parish church(1839-1882), Avenue Georges-Clemenceau

This church with its Baroque façade stands on the site of the old parish church and White Penitents' Saint-Bernardin chapel.

Saint-Antoine-Ermite chapel - Col Saint-Antoine - Route de Cannes

Built in the early 16th century, this chapel has a painting of Saint Anthony Abbot. Before being consecrated as a Christian chapel, the original structure may have been part of a Roman religious complex, since it is some 50m from an archaeological site with Roman tombs.

Saint-Roch chapel- Place Saint-Roch, 12 Avenue de l'Hôpital - Quartier Saint Roch

Built in the 17th century, of rendered stone, this chapel has a statue of Saint Roch and his dog, thought to protect the people of Vallauris from the plague and contagious diseases. In front of the porch, there is a wrought-iron Calvary dated 1851.

Notre-Dame-des-Grâces chapel - Chemin de Notre- Dame, Chemin des Pertuades

In the 18th century, a porch was added the 12-century chapel. A splendid retable (1694) closes the chancel, with, in the centre, a painting of the Assumption with Saint Clare and Saint Agatha. There is a touch of modernity with a mural by Jean Goujon of Vallauris (1957) made with fluorescent paint.

Chapelle de la Miséricorde- Place Jules-Lisnard

Completed in 1664, this chapel belonged to the Black Penitents until the French Revolution. The curved stucco altar with its Baroque altarpiece is its main feature. Listed as a historical monument in 2004, the chapel has been used since 1980 for various cultural activities.

 Craftsmen
Vallauris Golfe-Juan, an international centre for creation, has nearly 70 studios and some thirty shops and galleries dedicated to art and arts and crafts.

In addition to pottery and ceramics, the Commune, which was granted the “Ville & Métiers d'Art” label, has a great diversity of arts and crafts: sculpture, painting, crystal, etc.

How can one remain unmoved by such talent and beauty?

From studios to shops, the artists' genius is everywhere …
