Sophia Antipolis.

The renown of Valbonne-Sophia Antipolis is largely due to its famous Technology Park. With its contemporary architecture designed by many different architects, the site of Sophia Antipolis expressed an innovative image from the time of its creation in 1968, announcing the future of a world-class Technology Park.

No less than 2,300 hectares were harmoniously developed according to a strict rule: 2/3 homes, parks and gardens for 1/3 activity areas.

  Monuments

The abbey-church built in the early 13th century by monks in the Order of Chalais, became the parish church when the village was created by the Abbey of Lérins in 1519.

It is a splendid example of Romanesque Chalaisian architecture: austerity, pure lines, harmonious volumes, all contributing to the contemplation and spirituality.

The church tower with its clock replaced the bellcote located just above the transept crossing in 1854. Adjoining, the White Penitents’ Saint-Esprit chapel (17th c)

ÉGLISE SAINT-BLAISE, ABBAYE SAINTE-MARIE DE VALBONNE  - VALBONNE

The history of Valbonne has long been connected to this monastery, founded in the 13th century by the Benedictine monks of the Order of Chalais. In 1346, it was entrusted to the Abbey of Lérins which transformed it into a priory. Built on the Cistercian architectural model, you can still see what remains of the cloister, the monks' dormitory, the chapter on the ground-floor.
