Marcus Miller, guest of honour of the 50thJazz Festival in Antibes Juan-les-Pins

|
The talented bass player Marcus Miller joined Miles Davis in 1980, instilling a new energy to jazz through his compositions. At the time, his sense of innovation and funk roots created a new musical framework, inspiring the enthusiasm of younger generations discovering "emotional" jazz. After becoming a great name in jazz, he took real pleasure in mixing styles to offer a unique sound he shares in all complicity with addicted musicians and audiences!
The Festival’s prestigious guest, he still surprises us with rich intense programming. We’ll willingly go for more!!
Marcus Miller loves coming to the Riviera, which he sees as a legendary venue.
"In 1981, with Miles Davis, I was fortunate in coming to the Riviera for the first time. I quivered with joy! I was under the spell of Antibes and loved the hospitality. I still remember the festive spirit in Juan-les-Pins, its terraces full of life until very late at night with the fragrance of the umbrella pines.
The world’s greatest jazz musicians have performed in the Gould Pine Grove and presiding over the Festival’s 50th anniversary is an honour and especially a pleasure. At last, I’ll be able to stay a few days and take advantage of the magic lights at dawn facing the Mediterranean Sea. I hope to have the time to discover Old Nice and rediscover Èze. The vista is incomparable".
But Marcus Miller is sad to have so little free time and not be able to experience the Riviera in his own way. On tour, all you see are concerts and sharing with the public. But he promises he’ll be back!
