Getting around the French Riviera

By bus 

The bus network is well-developed on the Côte d'Azur, with both inter-urban and inter-village connections. Shuttle services are also available from Nice Côte d'Azur Airport to town centres and also from all bus stations in towns on the Côte d'Azur. Timetables and information on the towns served are available from the bus stations. 


The Ticket Azur – get around for a single price!
With the “Ticket Azur”, travel for the single price of €1 on all Alpes-Maritimes bus network services.
This “Ticket Azur” allows you to take two transport networks in succession, to complete a journey, including one change between one of the lines on the Departmental Council’s TAM network and a line on one of the following networks: Envibus (Antibes and surrounding area), Communauté de la Riviera Française (Menton and surrounding area), Sillages (Grasse and surrounding area), Bus Varmer (Carros and surrounding area), Ligne d’Azur (Nice and surrounding area), Bus Azur (Cannes and surrounding area).

By car 

You usually have to pay for parking from Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon and from 2 to 6 p.m. Many car-parks and parking meters are at your disposal, giving you time to devote to leisurely strolls. In the summer season, traffic conditions may prove to be difficult along the coast.
 
By taxi

Taxi ranks in towns are indicated by a blue panel. To reserve a taxi, central booking services are at your disposal in the Riviera's main towns.

By tram 

A single ticket to get around the city of Nice by tram and by bus.
Tickets on sale at “Ligne d’Azur” agencies in Nice (3, Place Masséna and 29, Avenue Malausséna) as well as in some newsagents and tobacconists displaying the “Ligne d’Azur” logo.
Warning: no tickets are sold on board the trams but ticket dispensers are available on the platforms (take change).

Tramway Nice

In Nice: by “self service” bike 

A new way of getting around, roaming as you wish and discovering all the riches and beauties of this French Riviera city using these “self-service” bikes.
These blue self service bikes at 90 stations spread throughout the city (mainly in the city centre during July) will be available 24 hours a day for €1 per day or a weekly price of €5 allowing you to get around the city as you wish…

By train

Along the coast
The TER (Regional Express Trains) provide rapide connections between the main towns on the Côte d'Azur from Cannes to Vintimiglia. At certain times of day, there is a train every 30 minutes.

SNCF: THE "ISABELLE" RAIL PASS: IN SUMMER SEASON
From July 1st to September 30th, the SNCF's "Carte Isabelle" enables passengers to make an unlimited number of trips in any one day on all trains offering seats (except TGV express trains) in 1st or 2nd class, from Théoule-sur-Mer to Vintimiglia and from Nice to Tende.
On sale at the train stations: €12.


Mid and high altitude areas 
The Nice-Tende-Turin SNCF line serves the mountains and especially the Vallée de la Roya on a daily basis. And also into Italy, to Limone, Cuneo and Turin.
Please note that in summer, connection by coach at St-Dalmas-de-Tende for the Vallée des Merveilles.
A tourist service is also available daily from June to September and weekends in May and October/November on the 9am train departing from Nice, the “Train des Merveilles”.

The picturesque "Train de Pignes" runs regular services from Nice (from the Gare du Sud) to Digne-les-Bains.

By boat 

Regular connections to the Iles de Lérins departing from Cannes (ferry terminal) but also from Juan-Les-Pins, Golfe Juan, Mandelieu la Napoule, Nice and Théoule sur Mer.

By Helicopter 

There are three major heliports on the French Riviera in Nice (Airport), Cannes and Monaco. The different companies run regular services between these three port and St Tropez and the ski resort of Isola 2000.

By plane 

There are 2 mountain airfields for professional pilots with "mountain" license only in Isola 2000 and Valberg open in summer.
