Biot: the art of glassmaking
For centuries, Biot was synonymous with pottery (particularly huge pots). Since 1956, under the impetus of Eloi Monod who revived the ancestral tradition of glass blowing, the village has been famous for its glass and master glass blowers.
The pottery tradition in Vallauris dates back to the beginning of our era. Obviously great changes have occurred since those early times, yet craftsmanship in the village continues to focus on this decorative art. Picasso, Jean Marais and many other artists were passionate about ceramics.
