Born in 1965, Wim Delvoye lives and works in Gand in Belgium. A major artist on the international scene, Wim Delvoye challenges the history of art, the Flemish tradition and industry in an often extravagant manner. From football goal incorporated into a stained glass window to fake marble floor made from ham, cages decorated with sadomasochist accessories, to tattooed pigs, the inventiveness of the artist and his taste for derision knows no bounds.
At MAMAC, Wim Delvoye chooses to develop three themes which express his approach to art: pig tattoos, gothic sets and a work based on Christ’s suffering on the cross.
