Exhibition : Generally accepted ideas - 4 exhibitions… 2 museums - Nice

Exhibition : Generally accepted ideas - 4 exhibitions… 2 museums - Nice

24 October 2009 to 28 February 2010
Modern society fosters the propagation of numerous generally accepted ideas. Nice’s four museums have taken this observation as a starting point to shed light on certain prejudices that populate our collective subconscious and debunk our generally accepted ideas.

Each museum will be focussing on its own area:
- The Muséum d’Histoire naturelle (Natural history museum) will be reinstating a few truths about fauna, flora and local geology.
- The Musée archéologique de Nice-Cemenelum (archaeological museum) will be featuring certain myths associated with the archaeological artefacts in its collections.
- The Musée Masséna will be examining the generally accepted ideas associated with the city of Nice such as « The weather is always fine in Nice – Nice has an Indian summer - Marshal Masséna commissioned the building of the Villa Masséna »
- Le Musée de Paléontologie humaine de Terra Amata, (Human palaeontology museum) will be mounting an exhibition demonstrating both generally accepted ideas that a large number of novices have about Prehistory, as well as research and scientific works that enable the truth to be re-established.
