“Menton fait son Cinéma”

“La Fête du Citron”, the Citrus Festival of Menton, a unique event on the French Riviera, with a fortnight of fun around the theme “Menton fait son Cinéma” (Menton, the star of cinema).

Corso fête du citron  

"Corso des fruits d’or"
Sunday 14, 21 & 28 February 2010
Parades of golden fruit along Promenade du Soleil, with splendid floats decorated with citrus fruit and moving figures. Between each float, musical bands of all kinds, folk groups and majorettes to set the atmosphere.
 
Evening parade
Thursday 18 & 25 February 2010 at 8:30pm
Parades of Lights bring the festive spirit to town, ending with grand fireworks from the Bay of the Bastion beginning around 10pm.

Exhibition of giant motifs made with citrus fruit
In the Biovès garden, travel round the world with citrus fruit, visiting the entire planet thanks to splendid compositions made with lemons and oranges.
The exhibition is open from 9am to 6pm and on weekends from 9am to 7pm. The Biovès garden opens on Friday 12 February 2010 with a garden of light starting at 8:30pm.

Friday 12, 19 & 26 February 2010 from 8:30pm to 10:30pm and Tuesday 16 & 23 February 2010. The Garden of Light opens a world with a magical play of sound and light.

The Orchid Festival at Palais de l’Europe
Exhibition of the finest orchid specimens in an exotic setting of plants and water.

Arts and Crafts Show
Display of arts and crafts inspired by citrus fruit in the region of Menton: products for their flavour - jam, jelly, honey, liqueur - and for their fragrance - soap and perfume (L’Eau de Menton). The craftsmen of Menton and its region are also present: wood carving, engraved glass, ceramics, painted miniatures, flower-petal pictures…

The Tourist Bureau offers a wide range of guided tours to discover the citrus fruit of Menton, it nature, how it is grown, its territory and tradition: the Citronneraie, the collection of citrus trees at Palais Carnolès, the streets of history, the gardens of Serre de la Madone, Villa Maria Serena and Fontana Rosa, the exotic botanical garden of Val Rahmeh, the Orangeraie.
