Reign of Baroque Art
In the 17th century, in response to the rise of Protestantism, the Church decided to strike the minds of the faithful with a demonstrative theatrical art blending architecture, painting, sculpture and music.
Its remarkably rich baroque heritage is a major cultural focus of interest for tourism on the French Riviera: more than eighty monuments, churches, chapels, palaces and citadels to discover along the Route du Baroque Nisso-Ligure.
